Setting up Google Search Console is an essential step in optimizing your website for search engines. By utilizing this powerful tool, you can gain valuable insights into your website's search performance and identify opportunities for improvement. In this guide, we will walk you through the process of setting up Google Search Console, specifically tailored for Bigdomain SEO and Malaysia SEO.

1) Go to the Google Search Console website (https://search.google.com/search-console) and click the “Start Now” button.

2) Sign in to your Google account. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to create one.

3) Enter your website URL in the “Add a Property” field and click the “Add” button.

4) In the popup window that appears, enter your website URL in the “Domain” field or your URL prefix in the “URL prefix” field, depending on which option you prefer. If you select "Domain", you'll need to verify ownership at the DNS level, while selecting "URL prefix" will require you to verify ownership by uploading an HTML file or adding a meta tag.  (for benefits of each selection , see below **)

5) Choose a verification method. Google provides a few different options for verifying your website ownership, including HTML file upload, DNS verification, and Google Analytics tracking code. Choose the one that works best for you and follow the instructions provided. We recommend you use DNS verification (below supplement notes for assistant**)

6) Once your website is verified, you’ll be taken to the GSC dashboard. From here, you can start exploring the different features and settings available.

7) To submit your sitemap to Google, click on the “Sitemaps” option in the sidebar and then click the “Add/Test Sitemap” button. Enter the URL of your sitemap and click “Submit.”

8) Use the “Coverage” report to check for any indexing errors or issues with your website. If you notice any errors, fix them as soon as possible to ensure that your website is properly indexed by Google.

9) Use the “Performance” report to track your website’s search performance over time. You can use this data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize your website accordingly.

10) Set up email notifications to receive alerts about any issues or updates related to your website. To do this, go to the “Settings” menu in the sidebar and then click on “General.” From here, you can configure your email preferences.

Congratulations! You have successfully set up Google Search Console for your website, and you are now ready to start optimizing your website for search engines. By regularly monitoring your website's search performance and addressing any issues or errors, you can improve your website's visibility and attract more traffic.
